kuniweb is an acquisition database for museum collections and enables the archiving, management and research of digital image and multimedia data as well as the corresponding input of museum and archaeological metadata. It can be used to record and manage a wide variety of material cultural heritage collections: digital and digitized photographs and slides of art objects, everyday objects, maps or archaeological finds, scientific image documentation, complete presentations or videos.

The system requirements for users of kuniweb are limited to an Internet browser and an Internet connection. The intuitive handling makes it easy to get started, even for users with little computer experience.

Thanks to the integration of DANTE, around 20 different data fields are stored with (inter)national standard data. References to the object can be linked to the corresponding data record in the Common Union Catalog (GVK).

kuniweb gives participating institutions the opportunity to pass on a representative selection of objects as valid data in various formats in accordance with international standards to portals such as the German Digital Library (DDB) or Europeana or to import them into the NFDI4Objects graph.

The Verbundzentrale Göttingen operates the archaeological finds database for the Archaeological Museum in Hamburg on the basis of kuniweb. As part of NFDI4Objects, there are plans to further develop the software and set up a finds database for small finds. Together with various state offices for the preservation of monuments, which are also involved in NFDI4Objects, the Find-Logbook app is being developed. The app will create a low-threshold offer for citizen scientists to record their finds while exploring, pass them on to the heritage offices and ultimately enter them into the finds database.
