NFDI4Objects represented with several contributions

NFDI4Objects had the opportunity to present itself at the Heritage Management Symposium organised by the European Archaeological Council (EAC) this year in Gdansk from 27-29 March and was on site with numerous representatives from participants and the community. In the session ‘What is FAIR Archaeological Heritage Data and are we there yet?’ (Chair: David Novák / Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague), Julian Hollaender (NFDI4Objects/Landesamt für Denkmalpflege im Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart) first presented the overarching goals, structures and services of NFDI4Objects. This was followed by two further presentations that illustrated the range and networking of the services developed and provided in NFDI4Objects. Anna-Marie Dürr (Landesamt für Denkmalpflege im Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart) gave a presentation entitled ‘Digital archaeological primary documentation data in Baden-Württemberg (Germany): The LAD-BW’s path from standards to archives’, on the efforts towards the automated creation of standards-based archive packages for primary documentation. Yiu-Kang Hsu (Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum), with his presentation ‘Persistent Identifiers: Road to the FAIRness of Archaeological Samples at the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum’, threw a spotlight on the efforts to ensure the traceability and tracking of scientific analysis samples at the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum.

The talks, discussions and suggestions with our international colleagues were extremely fruitful for our work and once again highlighted the prospects for expanded cooperation and joint solutions in the RDM environment.
